Clear as a water drop - Neurodermitis

Yesterday, my best friend toll me that her son was having all kind of skin issues. "Sara, his skin is a mess! He has white spots in his face, red points all over his arms, everything itches the whole day. I don't know what to do with him!".

I was sitting there, hearing at her stories and after a while, I looked at her in the eyes and said: "You told me you had a water damage in the ceiling of the living room last autumn, isn't it?"

"Yes, you're right".

"So you know what I think about his skin issues and why he is showing such red spots and itching and white spots and...".

"Do you mean, Sara...? Mycotoxins...? The doctor told us that it is neurodermitis".

"And what else did he told you? Do you have some idea about how to help him with it?".

"No..."

For me, it was so clear as a drop of water. Neurodermitis, psoriasis, vitiligo, candida at the skin, itching spots, red places, hives... We were always told that these were symptoms of "neurodermitis", because nobody knew about what was causing them. The doctors who had seen me in the past, during my childhood and my young age, they gave me always such a diagnosis that felt to me like a big suitcase where everything could be put inside. "Neurodermitis". But why "neuro"? Was it everything in my head, as they always said to me and my mother? "She should do a therapy with a psychologist".

Today I now that they had no answers. They weren't looking deep enough.

I was plenty of mycotoxins like Zerealone, Aflatoxin B1, Ochratoxin A, Citrinin, and Patulin, but they didn't knew it. And they left me 30-40 years guessing about my skin issues and I was lucky that I wasn't treated with cortisone because we denied it. But who knows someone with skin issues that doesn't know why they have them and in reality they are fighting against agressive mycotoxins and then, on top, taking cortisone or using cortisone creams in order to find some relief?

They are just burying themselves in toxins at least twice: the mycotoxins that the may have are not desapearing and their livers need to manage not only those chemical mold invaders, but also the effects of medications that are not always harmless.

As a consecuence and depending on the health status of the person, they are not getting better, but carrying more toxins within themselves, that will produce even more symptoms and bigger health issues down the road.

That's why I find the functional medicine so exciting: we're not burying our symptoms with big diagnosis that take us nowhere. We search for the root causes, that are maybe different for each of us, but a simple urine test in which we see the metabolites of how our body is procesing different metabolic processes can give you a bunch of valide information. So we will really be able to understand what it is happening and we can act in oder to help this unique person with his or her unique health issues.

Let's leave those big and empty diagnosis away and let's have a look about how your unique body is managing to develop in this toxic world!
