The dilemma of expensive tests
To test or not to test? That's the question.

The dillemma of expensive tests
One of the biggest issues with functional medicine is deciding if we want to begin with this "new" approach. The story of the patient is always the same:
-They are since a couple of years having health issues (sometimes the whole life, so we talk about 10-20-40-50 years of their lives!).
-They went to many specialists before. Then, after getting no real answers, but a bunch of diagnosis that are just feelt as labels, they feel left at the same place as before, but even more hopeless and with less money.
-Then they try non conventional medicine. Homeopathy, osteopathy, natural remedies. They get some relief, but they still feel not perfect. Their hope is even less than before and their wallet is even emptier.
Then, somewhere or somehow, they hear about functional medicine. In the USA it s a common field that people can rely on. In Europe almost nobody knows about it.
But the biggest problem are the expensive tests.
At the FDN we say "Test, don't guess!". Of course we can see clients showing issues that we can asses in our intake forms, but they are "just" clincal observations. If we want to success and to achieve the best results, we need to be able to correlate those observations with clinical results.
Even if we have a look at all the results that our clients take in to the first appoinment, we know that they are just the traditional ones. They usually don't get deep enough in order to give as the information we need in order to find the real root causes.
At that point the client has 2 options:
Not to test and stay at the same point where they are, probably getting more ill and more desperate.
To test and have a look at the health issues under a new perspective, a holistic one.
Very often the money is the question. Of course, at the end the money is always the problem!
Functional tests are expensive. We need between 200 $ and 400 $ for each test. That is a lot. The laboratories use very modern procedures that need the best equipments and employees who are prepared for the most modern and scientific processes. All this costs!
From all of these receipts for the laboratories, I get nothing. I needed to make these expensive studies in order to be able to be eligibile as a practitioner who can order these valuables tests for my clients. But this money get to the functional laboratory, not to me.
Then I interpret those results and make clinical correlations. Believe me, this is the most important part: "Clincal correlation". As an FDN we take a deeper look into the different combinations and explanations about the results of our patients. It is not just about an isolated result, but about the big picture those results show about our patients.
Every patient ask me if there is a possibility to run the tests here in Europe, in this or the other laboratory. I always tell the same: "No". You can believe me when I say that I work with the best laboratories. Before chosing this or the other test, I search for months for the best alternative. I've asked everywhere, in Germany, in Spain, in France, in Belgium, in Danemark. What I offer you is the best option. I search for the best prices and the most accurate results.
So believe me: If you have decided to take this step toward your health, go for it! Make some money adjustments and be sure that your're going to be surprised about how big your improvement will be. Knowing more about myself was the best decision I could ever made!
